It was our last night in Paris and after a long day of touring around the city, we decided we would dine someplace in our "neighborhood"- we wandered down the street to Bistrot Amelot, reviewed the menu outside, heard the lively music inside and thought "sure, looks like a good option" It was a Monday night around 9pm and the place had a few tables occupied, but otherwise, widely available...we were promptly seated and given the English menus.
We ordered our last bottle of French wine, husband had the Caprese Salad and scallops, I had the cheeseburger with fries. My husband said that the Caprese Salad was excellent the tomatoes were unseasonably good and his scallops were super fresh! My burger was good- not as well done as I normally like it, but I realized that the only reason I order "medium well" is because in the states you have to be so careful about ecoli and other diseases/issues- not so much the case in France- in fact they advertise that their beef is raised in France. The French Fries were the best I've had this entire trip- very good, so yummy!
It was our last night, so we ordered dessert- hubby had the Tiramisu and I had the Chocolate Mousse and both were very, very good.
Service was excellent and the music coming from the bar area was good- maybe the only reason this place is not getting 5 stars is that the musicians did sing and walk their way into the restaurant part asking for "tips for the artistes"- I'd rather they announce between songs that they would appreciate any tips if people like their performances and have a tip jar near the stage- it's just very uncomfortable to have them going table to table asking for donations.
Otherwise a very good place, if I find myself in that same Parisian Arrondissement in the future, I will definitely go there again! -
